Thakur Sri Ramakrishna visited Shobhabazar Rajbati (Adi Rajbari) and offered his obeisance to Sri Sri RadhaGovindajiu.
আদি রাজবাড়িতেই শ্রীশ্রী রাধাগোবিন্দজীউকে দর্শন ও প্রণাম করিতে শ্রীশ্রীঠাকুরের শুভাগমন হইয়াছিল।
Shobhabazar Rajbari
The Shobhabazar Rajbari (Rajbati) in North Kolkata is sanctified by the holy footprints of Thakur Sri Ramakrishna. Later, the massive civic reception of Swami Vivekananda was held in this very mansion on 28th February 1897 after Swamiji’s triumphant return to Calcutta from the West.
A young devotee of this royal household, Sri Jatindra Narayan Dev, was deeply drawn to Thakur Sri Ramakrishna’s divine charm. He used to visit Dakshineswar regularly and often stayed there overnight. As a result, a close and affectionate bond developed between them, and it was through this sacred connection that Thakur Sri Ramakrishna came to this house.
Regarding Sri Ramakrishna’s visit to the Shobhabazar Rajbari, it is mentioned in “Sree Ma-Darshan,” Volume IX, Chapter IV (translated from Bengali): “How much the devotees troubled him! For the sake of their education, he (Sri Ramakrishna) had to come down to their level in so many ways. One day, he kneeled down to bow in Raja Nabakrishna’s house. His body was so delicate – extremely soft and tender. He did it only to teach the so-called ‘Englishmen’, for they bow with folded hands. But one must bow fully, prostrating oneself before God.”
It is worth mentioning here that Thakur Sri Ramakrishna used to refer to the English-educated Indians of his time as so-called ‘Englishmen.’
In totality, the ‘Shobhabazar Rajbari’ consists of two mansions facing each other. In the original Rajbari (Adi Rajbari), the family Deity Sri Sri Radha Govindajiu is enshrined. Later, another mansion was built facing the old one, where a separate family Deity, Sri Sri Gopinathjiu was enshrined. Descendants of the Dev family still live in both these mansions.
Sri Jatindra Narayan Dev used to reside in the Adi Rajbari. Thakur Sri Ramakrishna had come to offer his obeisance to Sri Sri Radha Govindajiu, thereby making his blessed visit to this house.

শোভাবাজার রাজবাড়ি
উত্তর কলকাতার শোভাবাজার রাজবাড়িতে ঠাকুর শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণের শুভাগমন হইয়াছিল। পরবর্তীকালে ১৮৯৭ সালের ২৮শে ফেব্রুয়ারী পাশ্চাত্যে চিকাগোর বিশ্বধর্ম মহাসম্মেলন-প্রত্যাগত বিশ্ববিজয়ী স্বামী বিবেকানন্দের নাগরিক অভ্যর্থনা এই রাজবাড়িতেই অনুষ্ঠিত হইয়াছিল।
এই রাজবাড়িরই জনৈক তরুণ ভক্ত শ্রী যতীন্দ্র নারায়ণ দেব তৎকালে ঠাকুর শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণের আকর্ষণ-মহিমায় তাঁহার নিকট নিয়মিত দক্ষিণেশ্বরে যাতায়াত করিতেন ও রাত্রিবাসও করিতেন। ফলম্বরূপ, উভয়ের মধ্যে একটি সক্রিয় সম্পর্ক স্থাপিত হয়েছিল এবং সেই মধুর যোগসূত্রেই ঠাকুর শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণের এই বাড়িতে শুভাগমন হইয়াছিল।
শোভাবাজার রাজবাড়িতে ঠাকুর শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণের শুভাগমন সম্পর্কে উল্লেখ পাওয়া যায়, “কত জ্বালাতন করেছে ভক্তরা। তাদের শিক্ষার জন্য তাঁকে (ঠাকুরকে) কত নামা নামতে হয়েছে। একদিন রাজা নবকৃষ্ণের বাড়িতে হাঁটুগেডে নমস্কার করলেন। এই তো অত কোমল শরীর। বড্ড সুকোমল ছিল তাঁর শরীর। ‘ইংলিশম্যান’দের শিক্ষার জন্যই এটা করলেন। তারা হাতজোড়ে নমস্কার করে। কিন্তু ভগবানকে সাষ্টাঙ্গে প্রণাম করতে হয়।” **তথ্যসূত্র: (শ্রীম-দর্শন, নবম ভাগ-চতুর্থ অধ্যায়)।
প্রসঙ্গত উল্লেখ্য, তৎকালীন ইংরাজী শিক্ষিত এ-দেশীয় ব্যক্তিদেরই ঠাকুর ‘ইংলিশম্যান’ বলে অভিহিত করিতেন। শোভাবাজার রাজবাড়ি দুইটি এবং পরস্পরমুখী। আদি বাড়িতে রাজবাড়ির কুলদেবতা শ্রীশ্রীরাধাগোবিন্দজীউ প্রতিষ্ঠিত এবং পরবর্তীকালে তাহার ঠিক বিপরীতে নির্মিত বাড়িতে পৃথক কুলদেবতা ‘শ্রীশ্রীগোপীনাথজীউ’ প্রতিষ্ঠিত রহিয়াছেন।
এই দুই রাজবাড়িতেই দেব পরিবারের বংশধরগণ বাস করিয়া থাকেন। আদি বাড়িতে ঠাকুর শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণের ঘনিষ্ঠ শ্রীযুক্ত যতীন্দ্রনারায়ণ দেব বাস করিতেন, স্বাভাবিকভাবেই উত্তর কলিকাতার শোভাবাজার অঞ্চলে দেব পরিবারের এই আদি রাজবাড়িতেই শ্রীশ্রী রাধাগোবিন্দজীউকে দর্শন ও প্রণাম করিতে শ্রীশ্রীঠাকুরের
শুভাগমন হইয়াছিল।
