Pathshala (nursery school) of the Laha Family at Kamarpukur
The children in the Pathshala used to assemble under an aat-chala (outhouse with a roof made up of eight parts) in front of the Durga Mandapa. Khudiram admitted Gadadhar to this school on an auspicious day at the age of five, after initiating him through the Hatey Khodi (‘chalk in hand’) ceremony. The practice of alphabet recognition, handwriting and counting began. He could read the Punthis and the other books quite well. His handwriting was very neat and beautiful. Evidence of this can be found in his handwritten Punthi (religious story in narrative poem form) ‘Subahur Pala’. At the end of ‘Subahur Pala’, he writes :
Oh! The fountainhead of all virtues,Grant Sri Gadadhar a boon,Take care of everyone’s well being,Oh Ram! I pray to Thee.

কামারপুকুরে লাহা পরিবারের পাঠশালা (নার্সারি স্কুল)
দুর্গামণ্ডপের সম্মুখে আটচালায় এই পাঠশালা বসিত। ক্ষুদিরাম গদাধরের পাঁচ বৎসর বয়সে এক শুভদিনে হাতে খড়ি দিয়া এই পাঠশালায় ভর্তি করিয়া দিয়াছিলেন। বর্ণপরিচয়, পরে হস্তলিখন ও সংখ্যা গণনা অভ্যাস শুরু হয়। তাঁহার হস্তাক্ষর অতি সুন্দর হইয়াছিল। পুঁথিপাঠ তিনি ভালভাবেই করিতে পারিতেন। ‘সুবাহুর পালা’ নামক তাঁহার স্বহস্তলিখিত পুঁথিতে ইহার প্রমাণ পাওয়া যায়।
‘সুবাহুর পালা’র শেষে তিনি লিখিয়াছেন :শ্রী গদাধরকে বর দিবে ওহে গুণনিধি।কল্যাণে রাখিবে রাম তোমায় নিবেদি।।
