Manomohan Mitra’s House
On several occasions, when Sri Ramakrishna used to visit his devotees in the North Calcutta region, he used to sanctify the residence of Sri Manomohan Mitra at 23, Simulia street, where he used to rest a while. His first visit to this place was in the year 1881, during the month of June-July, when he rested here for a while, before moving to Surendranath Mitra’s place. This has been recorded in the Kathamrita, and it has been further mentioned that his second visit to Manomohan Mitra’s residence was on 3.12.1881, where he participated in community singing of Kirtan with Keshab Chandra Sen and other devotees, following which he also took food here. He sanctified this residence the next week as well, on 10.12.1881, where he rested a while, and had some food before moving ahead to Rajendra Mitra’s (Manomohan Mitra’s uncle) residence at Thanthania to participate in an ‘Utsav’ (festival). On that day, Surendranath Mitra took Sri Ramakrishna to Bengal Photographers’ Studio at Radhabajar, to demonstrate to him the exact procedure of photography. The next year, on 19.11.1882, Sri Ramakrishna rested a while at Manomohan Mitra’s place, before attending Jagaddhatri Puja being organised at Surendranath Mitra’s residence.
At present, the ownership of the house has changed hands.

মনোমোহন মিত্রের বাড়ি
উত্তর কলিকাতায় ঠাকুর শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণ আসিলে অনেক সময় ২৩ নং সিমুলিয়া স্ট্রিটে মনোমোহন মিত্রের বাড়িতে কিছুক্ষণ বিশ্রাম করিয়া অন্যত্র যাইতেন। তেমনভাবেই ১৮৮১ সালের আষাঢ় (জুন – জুলাই) মাসে সিমুলিয়া অঞ্চলে সুরেন্দ্রনাথ মিত্রের বাড়িতে পদার্পণ করার পূর্বে ঠাকুর ওইদিন প্রথমে সিমুলিয়ায় মনোমোহনের এই বাড়িতে বিশ্রাম লইয়াছিলেন যাহা ছিল এই বাড়িতে ঠাকুর শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণের প্রথম পদার্পণ। শ্রীশ্রীরামকৃষ্ণকথামৃত গ্রন্থে উল্লেখিত হইয়াছে যে এই বাড়িতে ১৮৮১ সালের আষাঢ় মাসে ঠাকুরের প্রথম পদার্পণের পর ওই বছরেই ডিসেম্বর মাসে দ্বিতীয়বার পদার্পণ করিয়াছিলেন। কথামৃতে ইহার বিবরণ আছে যে শ্রীশ্রীঠাকুর ৩-১২-১৮৮১ তারিখে (৩ রা ডিসেম্বর ১৮৮১) মনোমোহন মিত্রের এই বাড়িতে শুভাগমন করিয়া কেশব সেন ও অন্যান্য ভক্তদের সঙ্গে ভগবৎ প্রসঙ্গ ও কীর্তনানন্দের পরে আহারাদি করিয়াছিলেন এবং ঠিক এর পরের সপ্তাহে, ১০ই ডিসেম্বর ১৮৮১, ঠাকুর শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণ মনোমোহনের মেসোমশাই ঠনঠনিয়া অঞ্চলের নিবাসী রাজেন্দ্র মিত্রের বাড়িতে উৎসবে যোগদান করার পূর্বে মনমোহনের এই গৃহে পদার্পন করিয়া, বিশ্রাম লইয়া জলযোগ করিয়াছিলেন। এবং এইখান থেকেই সুরেন্দ্রনাথ মিত্র ঠাকুরকে রাধাবাজারে বেঙ্গল ফটোগ্রাফার্সের স্টুডিওতে লইয়া গিয়াছিলেন, ছবি কিভাবে তোলা হয় , তা দেখাইতে। পরবর্তীকালে, ১৮৮২ সালের ১৯শে নভেম্বর, (১৯.১১.১৮৮২), ৺জগদ্ধাত্রী পূজার দিন, ঠাকুর সেইদিন দক্ষিণেশ্বর থেকে কলিকাতায় এসে প্রথমে মনোমোহন মিত্রের এই বাড়িতে বিশ্রাম করিলেন, তারপর সেখান হইতে তিনি অতি নিকটে অবস্থিত তাঁর আরো এক গৃহীভক্ত সুরেন্দ্রনাথ মিত্রের বাড়িতে অনুষ্ঠিত ৺জগদ্ধাত্রী পূজায় আসিয়া উপস্থিত হইলেন।
