Manilal Mallick’s House 

Sri Ramakrishna visited Manilal Mallick, a prominent Brahmo devotee of his time and a great patron as well, in his house in the Sinduriapatti region of North Kolkata during the annual ‘Mahotsav’ of Brahmo Samaj on two occasions, first on 26th November 1882 and again after a year, on 26th November 1883. On both these occasions, Sri Ramakrishna engaged in spiritual discussions with the devotees and had food in this house.*

In the year 1904 , this house had changed hands and been converted into a Jain Mandir (Sri Digambara Jain Naya Mandir) and in the process of conversion, several structural changes had been made. However, the front side of the first floor of the house sanctified by Thakur Sri Ramakrishna’s auspicious visit exists unaltered.

Directions : In North Kolkata, while proceeding from north to south direction of Rabindra Sarani tramway near the intersection of Mahatma Gandhi Road (earlier Harrison Road) and Rabindra Sarani (Chitpur Crossing), this house which is “Sri Digambara Jain Naya Mandir” since 1904, is located next to a petrol pump.
