Mahendra Goswami’s House

Sri Sri Thakur’s visit to this house has been mentioned in the 15th Volume of Sri-M-Darshan. In this house age-old Vigraha (symbolic embodiment of God) of Gaur-Nitai is worshipped by turns by the members of the family. Mahendra Goswami is a descendant of Prabhu Nityananda. Their original house was in Khardah. Sri Sri Thakur visited house of Mahendra Goswami to have Darshan (auspicious sight) of this ancient Vigraha and pay obeisance.
Directions : Opposite to the revolutionary Bagha Jatin’s marble statue at the corner of Hedua and adjacent to the old Christ Church at Bidhan Sarani, North Kolkata, is Ram Dulal Sarkar Street and enter on its left side Dr. Narayan Roy Sarani (formerly Simla Street), after crossing 2-3 houses, and entering Mahendra Goswami Lane from right, this house is located on the first lane in the left.

শ্রীশ্রীঠাকুরের এই বাড়িতে শুভাগমনের কথা শ্রীম দর্শন — পঞ্চদশ খণ্ডে উল্লিখিত আছে। এই বাড়িতে অত্যন্ত প্রাচীন গৌর-নিতাই বিগ্রহের পালাক্রমে সেবা আছে। মহেন্দ্র গোস্বামী প্রভু নিত্যানন্দের বংশধর। খড়দহে তাঁহাদের প্রাচীন বাড়ি। শ্রীশ্রীঠাকুর এই প্রাচীন গৌর-নিতাই বিগ্রহ দর্শন করিবার জন্যই মহেন্দ্র গোস্বামীর বাড়িতে আসিয়াছিলেন।
পথনির্দেশ : উত্তর কলিকাতার বিধান সরণিতে হেদুয়ার কোনে বিপ্লবী বাঘা যতীনের মর্মর মূর্তির বিপরীত দিকে শতাধিক প্রাচীন ক্রাইস্ট চার্চের সংলগ্ন রামদুলাল সরকার স্ট্রীট হইতে বামপার্শ্বে ডাঃ নারায়ণ রায় সরণিতে (পূর্বতন সিমলা স্ট্রীট) প্রবেশ করিয়া ২-৩ টি বাড়ি অতিক্রম করিয়া ডান পার্শ্বে মহেন্দ্র গোস্বামী লেনে প্রবেশ করিলে বাম পার্শ্বের প্রথম গলির মধ্যে এই বাড়িটি অবস্থিত।
