Sadabrata (charitable service) and Debalaya (temple) of the Lahas at Kamarpukur
The Sadabrata was on the southern side of the present Ramakrishna Math. When the ascetics came there, they used to get rice, pulses etc. Gadadhar from a very early age used to go there to meet the ascetics. To the east of the present monastery (Math) were the residential house and temples of Laha family, Vishnumandir and Durgadalan. As a child, Gadadhar used to follow with great attention Puja (worshipping) in the temple and the entire process from creation of idol, invocation of Goddess followed by all the rituals till end in the Durga Mandapa.
He used to frequently visit the house of the Laha family.

কামারপুকুরে লাহাসের সদব্রত (দাতব্য সেবা) এবং দেবালয় (মন্দির)
বর্তমান শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণ মঠের দক্ষিণদিকে এই সদাব্রত ছিল। সাধুরা সেখানে আসিলে চাউল, ডাল ইতাদি পাইতেন। গদাধর বাল্যকাল হইতেই সাধুদর্শনের জন্য সেখানে যাইতেন। বর্তমান মঠের পূর্বদিকে লাহাবাবুদের বাড়ি ও দেবালয়, বিষ্ণুমন্দির ও দুর্গাদালান ছিল। গদাধের বাল্যেই মন্দিরে পূজা ও দুর্গামণ্ডপে প্রতিমা নির্মাণ হইতে পূজাসাঙ্গ পর্যন্ত বিশেষভাবে লক্ষ্য করিতেন। লাহাবাবুদের বাড়িতেও প্রায়ই যাইতেন।
