Simulia- House of Raghumani Devi, Swamiji’s Grandmother
House of Raghumani Devi, Narendranath’s (later Swami Vivekananda) grandmother at Ramtanu Basu Lane was very close to his ancestral house. Narendranath used to spend a long time in a secluded small room (‘Tong-er Ghar’ – attic) on the second floor of this house, where he used to study, practice singing and musical instruments. Sri Ramakrishna visited this house on several occasions.

Directions: In between Bidhan Sarani and Chittaranjan Avenue in North Kolkata and opposite ‘Simulia Vyaam (Exercise) Samiti’ ground is the State Bank of India, Vivekananda Road Branch and enter the northbound road at the end of the building, follow the first narrow lane on the left and this house is at the right side of the lane.
সিমুলিয়া – স্বামীজীর মাতামহী রঘুমণি দেবীর বাড়ি
স্বামীজীর পৈতৃক বাটীর নিকটে রামতনু বসু লেনে তাঁহার মাতামহী রঘুমণি দেবীর বাটীতে ঠাকুর বহুবার শুভগমন করিয়াছিলেন। পূর্বাশ্রমের জীবনে, তিনি এই বাড়িতে দোতলায় নির্জন একটি ছোট ঘরে (‘টংয়ের ঘর’) লেখাপড়া ও গান বাজনার উদ্দেশ্যে অতিবাহিত করিতেন।
