Thakur Sri Ramakrishna visited Kalyaneshwartala in Bally in Howrah district, several times to have the vision (darshan) of the live deity of self-manifested Shiva-linga, better known as Kalyaneshwar.

Sri Sri Thakur went to many places to listen to Srimad Bhagavat Path (recital), Bhagavat Leela Kirtan and Jatra (folk theatre). It is mentioned in Sri Sri Ramakrihna-Punthi that he attended Harisabha at devotee Kalachand Mukhopadhya’s house in Bali and joined the recital of Srimad-Bhagavatam and singing of Kirtan.
