Burrabazar – Marwari Devotee’s (Tarachand Ghanashyam Das’s) Residence

Sri Ramakrishna sanctified the residence of the Marwari devotee by his visit on the occasion of the ‘Annakoot’ festival (literally, “mountain of rice and cooked food” first offered to the Deity and then distributed to the devotees) on 20th October 1884. The Marwari devotees celebrate this festival during Diwali (two days after the Shyama Puja, that year).*

Thakur had Darshan (auspicious sight) and paid obeisance to the Vigraha (Deity) Mayurmukutdhari (Bhagwan Sri Krishna with peacock feather on the crown). Later he partook of the Prasad (sacramental food having offered to the Deity) with other devotees on the roof of the house.

The Deity which was worshipped by Sri Ramakrishna, is now placed on the fourth floor of this house and worshipped daily.
