Antpur
The zamindar (landlord) of this village, Sri Ramprasad Mitra used to live in a rented house at Jhamapukur in Calcutta. At that time (year 1853) Sri Sri Thakur staying at his elder brother Ramkumar’s Toll (Sanskrit school to teach scriptures), often used to visit the house of the Mitras. He was close and intimate with Mitra Mahasaya’s (this word adopted in Bengali language from the French word “monsieur” equivalent to “sir” in English) two sons Sri Kalicharan (Kalu) and Sri Umacharan (Bhulu). Probably due to that relationship, Gadadhar was invited to attend the Durga Puja and went to Antpur in the year 1854. The name of the adjacent village was Tora. That is why this place used to be known as Tora-Antpur. When Baburam (later Swami Premananda) first visited Dakshineswar and informed Thakur that he is from Tora-Antpur, Thakur said, “In that case, I have visited your village once.”

আঁটপুর
এই গ্রামের জমিদার শ্রীরামপ্রসাদ মিত্র কলিকাতায় ঝামাপুকুরে একটি ভাড়াবাড়িতে থাকিতেন। সেই সময় (১৮৫৩ খ্রীষ্টাব্দ) শ্রীশ্রীঠাকুর তাঁহার অগ্রজ রামকুমারের টোলে থাকিতেন ও মিত্রমহাশয়ের বাসাতে প্রায়ই যাইতেন। মিত্রমহাশয়ের পুত্রদ্বয় শ্রীকালীচরণ (কালু) ও শ্রীউমাচরণ (ভুলু)-র সহিত তাঁহর বিশেষ পরিচয় ও ঘনিষ্ঠতা হয়। সেই সূত্রেই ১৮৫৪ খ্রীষ্টাব্দে খুব সম্ভবত দুর্গাপূজায় নিমন্ত্রিত হইয়া গদাধর আঁটপুরে গিয়াছিলেন। এই গ্রামের পার্শ্ববর্তী গ্রামের নাম তড়া। সেইজন্য তখন ইহাকে তড়া-আঁটপুর বলা হইত। বাবুরাম (পরবর্তীকালে স্বামী প্রেমানন্দ) যখন প্রথম দক্ষিণেশ্বরে দর্শন করেন, তখন তাঁহার বাড়ি তড়া-আঁটপুরে জানিয়া ঠাকুর তাঁহাকে বলিয়াছিলেন, ‘তবে তো তোমাদের দেশেও একবার গেছি।’
